| In October of 2003 we worked with the Middle School during STRIVE week. That is the week when the sixth and seventh grades are exposed to local history. Mary Mertic presented her 'Chidester' program. The Chidesters were the people who introduced industry to this area. They built a woolen mill in Rogues' Hollow in 1828 which is considered to be the first industrial endeavor here. | ![]() |
Cal and Fran Holden opened their home to well over 100 kids to show them local artifacts and talk about them. Cal is the Historian Laureate of Doylestown/Chippewa Township. After the program, some of the kids sent us thank you notes that they made. All of them are great but my personal favorite is the one above. This came from Nicole Rhodes. She is irresistable isn't she. Thank you, Nicole. | |
